The luncheon was organized to express gratitude to representatives of excellent companies that have made efforts to increase employment, and to hear their opinions on the necessary government support. From the government side, Deputy Prime Minister Choi was joined by Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo, Ministry of Economy and Finance Assistant Vice Minister Yoon In-dae, Director of Industrial Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Lee Seung-ryul, and Director of SME Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups Noh Yong-seok. Deputy Prime Minister Choi emphasized, “The breakthrough to overcome recent internal and external uncertainties is ‘corporate innovation and growth,’ and for that, investment in future talent is the key.” He continued, “I would like to thank the outstanding job-creating companies that are leading future investment through increased employment,” and asked, “Given the current difficult conditions for youth employment, please pay special attention to providing sufficient opportunities for the younger generation.” He added, “We will concentrate policy capabilities on corporate innovation and growth so that investment in talent by companies can return as even greater results.” He also expressed the government’s policy will, saying, “We are operating a ‘hotline’ to resolve employment difficulties for companies, as well as pushing forward regulatory reforms and fostering new industries.” Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo stated, “Jobs are created by businesses,” and added, “To spread and support models like the outstanding companies, we are managing excellent local companies on a one-to-one basis and reorganizing consulting projects to be demand-centered to improve corporate competitiveness and quality of working life.” Company representatives who attended the luncheon presented policy ideas such as:
Training excellent talent in line with industrial demand,
Expanding financial and tax incentives for companies hiring youth,
Supporting regional companies in attracting outstanding talent.
They also requested improvements in systems such as the 52-hour workweek and procedures for hiring foreign workers. The relevant ministries agreed with these suggestions. They responded by saying, “Relevant ministries will promptly come up with solutions, and for tasks that require social consensus, we will discuss them through bodies such as the Economic, Social and Labor Council.” Finally, Deputy Prime Minister Choi emphasized, “The government is working hard to create a business-friendly environment, but I still feel that there is a lot lacking,” and “We will expand field contact points and work to create changes that businesses can actually feel.” Original article source: Edaily
